Bill (he/him) has been a member of the psychedelic culture for decades and is now both humbled and excited to serve this community through the important work of BPMT.

He recently concluded 17 years with the Recording Academy, during which he led the Grammy Awards program as Chief Awards Officer and produced large Academy events.

His deep work with criteria, eligibility, certification, consensus-building, and the creation, evolution and enforcement of rules will contribute to BPMT’s role as a standard-bearer for the psychedelics industry.

Bill forged the movement to eliminate gendered categories in entertainment awards. In striving to center equity further at the Academy, he used his position to elevate Indigenous and other underrepresented voices through active decolonization of the institution’s processes and practices. This ideology is fundamental to his leadership.

Prior to joining the Recording Academy, Freimuth worked as a creator and executive in the theater until he ‘ran away and joined’ New York’s Big Apple Circus as manager of their touring big top production.

He has a diploma from the Virginia Governor’s School for the Gifted and graduated summa cum laude from the University of Michigan.
